Reel Features
"A classic reel with a revolutionary core"

Features of the FELTY 911 fly reel:

There are 6 reels in the FELTY range and the following are features of the
largest of these being the 911.

FELTY Fly Reels are machined from solid bars of high strength aluminium to very fine tolerances and are then anodized to enhance the corrosion protection and to result in the finished colour of the reel.

The reel is corrosion resistant and designed for continuous saltwater use.

The spool is counterbalanced to make provision for the offset mass of the handle. The counterbalance is flush with the exterior reel surface. The counterbalance also indicates the position up to where the backing should be filled.

Extremely smooth PTFE drag system:

Drag can be adjusted from zero to maximum in two complete turns of the drag knob with a slow progressive variance.

The torque applied to the drag knob is easily related to the line tension.

Large easily accessible drag knob.

The complete drag system is maintenance free and housed in the spindle of the reel which prevents exposure of the drag system to sand, dust, water, etc.

PTFE on steel creates a very smooth drag system, which can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 250 °C.

The reel has completely silent drag and retrieve actions.

Exposed spool design: Additional drag may be applied by the palm of the hand.

A right-handed reel may be changed to a left-handed reel with an alternative assembly orientation of two components.

Spool changes may be performed without the need of tools. The spool release button is on the housing side of the reel and allows two hands to be used to remove the spool.

The axial play between the spool and the housing is adjustable to allow for the exact clearance adjustment when any spool is fitted. Note that further adjustment will not be necessary after the desired clearance has been achieved.

A leader or tippet storage device is featured on the spool release button.

Large spool diameter allowing for quick retrieve, low line memory and a large line capacity - between 270m and 320m of 30 lb Dacron backing depending on whether a 10 weight floating or sinking line is used. Backing capacities are substantially increased if Bionic Braid is used.

The outside surface of the spool is perforated to allow drying of the line and backing. The inner perforation diameter indicates a 50m backing alert position.

The wall thickness of the spool and housing are designed to provide rigidity and robustness of the reel and minimizes strain during high tension line retrieval.

No components can be loosened from the reel or be lost whilst fishing.

Flat reel face on the handle side which allows interference free retrieve.

Disassembly of the entire reel into components and sub-assemblies is possible.  A screwdriver and pair
of pliers are the only tools necessary to disassemble the entire reel.

The mass of the FELTY 911 is 218g.

The housing and the housing side of the spool are not perforated and therefore do not allow the ingress of sand or dirt.

The reel has a simple unique appearance with the housing side wall thickness of the reel approximately the same as the spool side wall thickness. There is no unnecessary bulk.

Aesthetic design with no screws or nuts visible on the exterior of the reel when fitted to the fishing rod.

The reel foot or rod fixture is designed according to specification to ensure compatibility with all fishing rods.

The reel markings are engraved on the aluminium material of the housing, and will not deteriorate with use.

The reel is packaged in a sturdy cardboard box with a thick material reel pouch, owner’s manual, parts list, and warranty card.

The reel carries a 5 year manufacturers warranty.

The reel is supplied with 5 ml of recommended spindle lubrication.

FELTY Fly Reels are designed and manufactured in South Africa.
